ABOUT THE GRANTS PROGRAM
The Grants Program provides financial support to Altrusa Clubs, ASTRA Clubs, and Altrusa Districts for independent community service projects. Projects must aim to improve the educational, economic, and quality of life outcomes for communities.
Note:
Grant funds may not be used for fundraising events or to support another organization’s fundraising activities (no pass through funding).
Only Altrusa-affiliated organizations (Clubs, Districts, ASTRA Clubs) are eligible to apply.
GRANT CYCLES AND DEADLINES
There are two grant cycles each fiscal year (June 1-May 31):
Cycle One: Application deadline – September 15; the Club 52 funding focus is international healthcare and educational initiatives.
Cycle Two: Application deadline – March 15; the Club 52 funding focus is camps for children with disabilities or affected by disease.
IMPORTANT FUNDING UPDATE
In response to feedback from Clubs and Districts, the Foundation has updated its grant funding policy. The Proportional Adjustment Policy has been eliminated. Instead, the Foundation will now fully fund qualifying applications that meet the required minimum score—until available funds are exhausted. This update ensures that projects receive the full funding they need to achieve their intended outcomes.
Applications that meet the minimum score but cannot be funded due to budget limitations are encouraged to reapply during the next cycle.
GRANT REPORTING REQUIREMENTS
All grant recipients must submit two reports:
Progress Report (Due 6 months after funds are received)
A brief 1-page narrative covering project progress, outcomes, and any changes to timeline, goals, or budget.
Follow-up Report (Due within 12 months of receiving funds)
Complete the official Grant Follow-up Form included with your award letter.
Forms are also available on the Foundation website or by contacting the Foundation Office.
Please include:
Photos of the project in action (with signed photo releases)
Testimonials and impact statements from participants and beneficiaries
PUBLIC ACKNOWLEDGEMENT REQUIREMENT
When publicly sharing about your project (e.g., on websites, social media, interviews, or press releases), please use the following statement:
This [project/program] was awarded grant funding by the Altrusa International Foundation, Inc. For more information, please visit foundation.altrusa.org.

IMPORTANT NOTES FOR APPLICANTS
