Welcome to the Altrusa International Foundation. The Foundation is organized as a nonprofit organization operated exclusively for charitable purposes, supporting Altrusans in service to their local communities. It is governed by a Board of Trustees who are elected by the Altrusa membership. The Foundation relies on the generosity of Altrusa members throughout the world to provide funding for club projects, awards, disaster relief, and Club 21 projects. The Foundation is also the umbrella agency for 130 local club foundations (LCFs). Through this “umbrella”, local club foundations (LCFs) can raise funds and provide tax deductible status to the donors.
The Endowment Fund is the Foundation’s legacy to future generations of Altrusans and their communities. It supports the Grants Program, Individual Scholarships, ASTRA Club Service Projects and ASTRA Scholarships. It also provides the funding for the Letha H. Brown Literacy Award, Mamie L Bass Service Award, Dr. Nina Fay Calhoun International Relations Award and the biennial Anna H. Settle Community Leadership Award.
Since its inception in 1962, the Altrusa International Foundation, Inc. has assisted Altrusa Clubs in performing effective service and literacy programs. The Foundation is 61 years old and going strong thanks to our members. In 2023, your Foundation handed out over $290,000 in club grants and $30,000 for Club 21 projects. The Disaster Relief Program provided $114,500 to assist clubs and their communities in responding to hurricanes, tornadoes, floods and other disasters.
Altrusans can become one of our recognized donors through the various Lamplighter programs – Lucente Lamplighter, Hofmeister pendant, and the new Margaret Albin pendant.
