Welcome to the best decision you will ever make – Becoming an Altrusan. Altrusa is a powerful group of men and women who consider community service and making their community a better place at local, district and International Levels, an essential part of their lives. Everyone can make a positive difference to the world around them. Our individual contributions may be small but together as a team, we can make them matter and have a positive impact on our community. We can each donate our time or money towards special projects in our community.
Since its inception in 1962, the Altrusa International Foundation, Inc. has assisted Altrusa Clubs in performing effective service and literacy programs. In the last biennium, your Foundation handed out $536,615.00 in club grants, $71,622.00 for Club 21 projects and $42,431.00 in Disaster Relief Aid and $21.100.00 in Awards.
The Endowment Fund is the Foundation’s legacy to future generations of Altrusans and their communities. It supports the Grants Program, Individual Scholarships, ASTRA Club Service Projects and ASTRA Scholarships. It also provides the funding for the Letha H. Brown Literacy Award, Mamie L Bass Service Award, Dr. Nina Fay Calhoun International Relations Awards and the biennial Anna H. Settle Community Leadership Award.
The Foundation manages the Club 21 Program which supports children and their families who are affected by disease and disabilities. The Club 21 Program provides funds to aid communities through international service projects and domestic children’s camps.
COVID-19 had a big impact on all of our communities and the Disaster Relief Aid Program was there to assist clubs and their communities by responding swiftly and directly to help those hit hardest by this terrible pandemic. The Relief Aid helps out where it is needed most.
As a member of Altrusa, you will learn more about the International Foundation and how we help our members, clubs and communities become a better place. Please consider being an asset to the Foundation by helping us to financially support the work of the Altrusa Foundation. I encourage you to look into our Lamplighter Program as an avenue for long-term giving and personal recognition.
